Gahavar Van is where Radharani would come with Her Sakhis or when She wished to be alone.
यह ठाकुर जी की गोचारण (गाय चराने) की भूमि है। एक बार, वह अपनी गायों को बुला रहे थे, उसी समय माता यशोदा वहां आ गईं। यशोदा मैया को जंगल से आने के कारण पसीना आ रहा था। तब ठाकुर जी ने कहा - माँ! इस कुंड के ठंडे पानी में स्नान क्यों नहीं करती ? कुंड को शीतल कुंड के रूप में जाना जाता है जहां मैया ने स्नान किया था।
उसी समय मैया ने रास दर्शन की इच्छा व्यक्त की, और ठाकुर जी ने मैया को रास लीला का दर्शन कराया है, कोट का अर्थ है किला, अतः कोट की ओट में से (छुप कर) यशोदा जी को यहाँ रास बिहारी ने रास लीला का दर्शन कराया, जिससे गोपियों को भी संकोच नहीं हुआ और यशोदा जी की इच्छा की भी पूर्ति हई । अतः इस स्थल का नाम कोटवन हआ । ब्रज परिक्रमा करते हए श्री मन् चैतन्य देव भी यहाँ आये हैं, यहाँ उनकी बैठक भी है । यहाँ सूर्य कुंड, श्रीनाथ जी की बैठक एवं वल्लभाचार्य जी की बैठक भी है।

Kot Van is Thakur Ji's Cow herding place. Once upon a time, he was calling his cows, at the same time mother Yashoda reached there, she was feeling sweaty while coming from the forest. Then Thakur Ji said - Mother! Why don’t you take a bath in this cold water in the Kund? The Kund is known as Shital Kund where she took a bath.
At that time mother Yashoda desired for the darshan of Ras Leela and Thakur Ji has shown him Raas Leela at Kotvan. Kot refers to the fields where she was hidden. Also, Gopis didn’t feel awkward at that time, because she was hiding in the fields. Shri Krishna has shown Raas Leela to Yashoda Maiya and fulfilled her desire. Therefore this place is known as Kotvan.
During Braj Parikrama, Shri Chaitanya Dev also came to this place and sat here and his Baithak is also here. Also, Surya Kund, Shrinath Ji’s Baithak and Shri Vallabhcharya's Baithak is also here.

Kotvan is in-between Kosi and Hodal in the Delhi-Mathura Highway.
यह श्री राधा कृष्ण, युगल विहार स्थली है। यहाँ पर श्री राधा रानी ने श्री कृष्ण के नृत्य की परीक्षा ली थी। और श्री राधा रानी मान–गुमान की छड़ी को लेकर खड़ी थीं। श्री कृष्ण को नृत्य सिखा रही थीं। किन्तु जब नृत्य में कोई भूल हो जाती तो श्री राधा रानी उन्हें अपने रूप से भयभीत कर देतीं, श्री कृष्ण भय से नाच रहे हैं की उनसे कोई भूल न हो जाए । यह बहुत ही सुंदर लीला है।
रसिकवर श्री हरिराम व्यास जी ने इस लीला को अपने पद में इस प्रकार वर्णन किया है :
"पिय को नाचन सिखवत प्यारी,
मान गुमान लकुट लिए ठाड़ी, डरपत कुञ्ज बिहारी।”
श्री राधा रानी छड़ी को लेकर खड़ी हैं, की श्री कृष्ण से कोई भूल हो और उनको वो डाँट लंगाएं
"व्यास स्वामिनी की छबि निरखत, हंस हंस दे कर तारी।"
श्री हरिराम व्यास जी श्री राधा कृष्ण की अद्भुत लीला को देखकर खूब हंस हंस कर ताली बजा रहे हैं।
This is the excursion spot of Radha Krishn. Here Shri Radhika had taken a dancing test of Krishn. Beloved Radha, holding the stick in an anger filled face of an acting instructor, giving dance training to dear Kunjvihari (Krishn). Whenever some mistake found in his fast movement dance as directed by beloved Radha, Shri Radha scolded him with her fierce look. Shri Krishn is dancing in fear to avoid further scolding. This is a very beautiful leela.
His holiness Hariram Vyas has explained this pastime in his own verse :
Hindi verse:
"piy ko naachan sikhaavat pyaari,
maan gumaan lakut lie thaadee, darapat kunj bihaaree.”
Radha Rani is standing with a stick in her hand, so that at the moment any mistake committed by beloved Krishn and she will scold him.
Hindi verse:
"vyaas svaaminee kee chhabi nirakhat, hans hans de de taaree"
