IMLITALA

Imlitala, meaning “the tamarind tree,” holds a sacred place in Vrindavan’s divine landscape. It is intimately connected with the pastimes of Shri Radha-Krishna and the spiritual experiences of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. During the divine Maha Raas Leela, when Shri Radha Rani disappeared from the Raas, Shri Krishna sat beneath this tamarind tree in deep meditation, chanting Radha Naam with heartfelt intensity. Immersed in remembrance, He attained the divine vision of Shri Radha Rani here. Hence, this place became celebrated as Imlitala.

Spiritual Importance

  • It is said that Shri Radharani’s Abhishek also took place here, adding to the sanctity of the site.

  • Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, while staying in Vrindavan, used to come daily from Akrura Ghat to sit under this very tree on the banks of Yamuna. Here, He chanted the holy names of Krishna with ecstatic love and deep feelings of separation.

  • In His intense devotion, Mahaprabhu’s body assumed the golden hue of Shri Krishna beneath this sacred tamarind tree.

  • Today, a beautiful deity of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is enshrined under the tree, continuing to radiate spiritual bliss to all who visit.

Situated on the bank of Yamuna Ji, near Shringar Vat and Keshi Ghat, this divine spot is a must-visit for seekers of Radha-Krishna’s intimate pastimes.
