Pili Pokhara
Pili Pokhara
Pili Pokhara, located in the sacred region of Barsana, is a revered holy pond closely connected to the divine childhood pastimes of Srimati Radharani. The word “Pili” means yellow, and this pond is believed to have a special association with the yellow turmeric (haldi) that was applied to Radharani during auspicious ceremonies.
According to the local belief, this is the place where Radharani’s friends (Sakhis) would bring Her to play, celebrate, and enjoy joyful moments. During festive occasions, especially before Her marriage-like rituals or sacred ceremonies, haldi (turmeric) was applied to Radharani, and the sacred yellow color was said to reflect in the water — giving the pond its name “Pili Pokhara”.
The serene surroundings and devotional atmosphere of Pili Pokhara make it a spiritually uplifting spot for visitors. Many devotees sit here to chant, pray, or quietly reflect upon the divine loving pastimes of Radharani. The pond is also considered auspicious for those seeking purity, beauty, and blessings of divine love.
