SHRI ASHTSAKHI TEMPLE

Situated very close to the world-renowned Shri Banke Bihari Ji Mandir, the Shri Radha Ras Bihari Ashta Sakhi Mandir (popularly known as the Ashta Sakhi Temple) is one of the most spiritually significant and centuries-old temples of Vrindavan. Dedicated to the divine couple Shri Radha-Krishna and their Ashta Sakhis (eight intimate companions of Shri Radha Rani), this temple beautifully preserves and celebrates the eternal Ras Leela.

Spiritual Significance

  • The Ashta SakhisLalita, Vishakha, Champaklata, Chitra, Tungvidya, Indulekha, Rangadevi, and Sudevi—are eternally engaged in serving Shri Radha-Krishna, arranging Their meetings, decorating Them, and enhancing Their transcendental pastimes.

  • Among them, Lalita Sakhi and Vishakha Sakhi are considered the chief leaders, guiding the seva of the other sakhis.

  • The temple is believed to be the eternal abode of Ras Leela, where Radha and Krishna’s divine love is expressed through the assistance of Their dearest companions.

  • The temple is centuries old, carrying the essence of Vrindavan’s spiritual heritage.
