SHRI MEERA BAI TEMPLE
Mirabai Temple in Vrindavan stands as a sacred reminder of the deep devotion and surrender of Saint Mirabai, the legendary poet-saint who considered Lord Krishna as her eternal husband and beloved. Mirabai came to Vrindavan in 1524, seeking the divine presence of Shri Krishna and His eternal pastimes. She resided here for nearly 15 years (1524–1539), immersing herself in bhajan, kirtan, and remembrance of her Lord before departing to Dwarka, where she stayed until her departure from this world in 1550.
While the Rasik Saints of Vrindavan primarily worship in the mood of Yugal Upasana (Radha and Krishna together), in the bhava of sakhis of Radharani, Mirabai’s devotion was unique. She worshipped Krishna with the intensity and surrender of a wife (pativrata bhava), a sentiment that resonates strongly with the worship tradition in Dwarka. Thus, her bhakti beautifully bridges the devotional moods of Vrindavan and Dwarka.
