SHRI GIRIRAJ JI PARIKRAMA THROUGH E-RICKSHAW/AUTO

Govardhan Parikrama is one of the most sacred practices in Braj, undertaken by devotees to express their love and surrender to Giriraj Maharaj (Govardhan Hill). It is believed that circumambulating Govardhan not only grants spiritual merit but also fulfills the deepest desires of the heart, as Lord Krishna Himself declared Govardhan to be non-different from His own form.

There are two parikrama paths:

  1. Small Parikrama – 10 km

  2. Big Parikrama – 11 km
Together, they form a complete 21 km Parikrama around Giriraj Govardhan.

Ways of Performing Parikrama:

  • Normal Parikrama by walking: Covering the 21 km stretch usually takes 7 hours or more, depending on one’s pace.

  • By Rickshaw: Devotees who are unable to walk can complete the parikrama in about 45 minutes.

  • Dandavati Parikrama: The most austere form, performed by offering full-body prostrations (dandavats) along the path. This sacred vow takes around 10–11 days to complete.

For those unable to perform the parikrama personally, arrangements are made where brahmins perform the parikrama on behalf of devotees, praying for the fulfillment of their wishes.
